Handtec brings Nokia’s newer and shinier Nokia 3310. It’s essentially a £20 feature phone in a shell that sort of. The fleeting moment of nostalgia it creates is shattered when you realise your childhood has been lazily repackaged.
Sturdy but Stirring Look
It’s one of the most popular mobiles of all time, remembered for its near-indestructible build, long-lasting battery and legendary Snake (well, Snake 2 if we’re being accurate) game and the team licensing the Nokia phone name has jumped at the chance to reignite the love for a phone which was once the leader in the mobile market.Considering it’s plastic construction, it still feels comfortable to hold and it won’t slip out of your hand like some phones made with of can easily do. During our review time, we successfully avoided dropping the new Nokia 3310.
Main Features:
- Small and light Retro, plastic design
- The new Nokia 3310’s stellar battery life with 1200 mAh
- tough build and low price make it a great spare emergency phone
- It is as legendarily sturdy as the original Nokia 3310
- Nokia 3310 has a colour panel, though, and all the inputs are via the T9-style keyboard and compatible to use
Kid’s Friendly & Snake game
It’s cheap enough to give you a line of contact with your kids without you worrying that they’ll lose it. It’s strong enough that you won’t have to pay to replace a cracked screen. And since there’s barely any internet to speak of. The classic game might come in colour now (it was black and white on the original 3310), but it’s still Snake. Snake is great.
Impressive Hardware Features
Thanks to the simple functionality, it doesn’t take a big battery to keep the 3310 going – even for a full month – it’s packing just 1200 mAh. Elsewhere, there’s that 2.4in QVGA screen, a headphone jack, Micro-USB charger, and 16MB of internal memory.
You’ll want to supplement that with a microSD card though (it supports up to 32GB) because that’s how you’ll need to store things like music and photos from the 2Mp camera
Impressions
At the end of the day, the Nokia 3310 is a play for nostalgia. It’s not going to replace your smartphone – and it doesn’t want to – but it could be a cheap supplement. It’s a feature phone with the epic battery life and the sheer Nokia factor (and Snake!) we know where our loyalties lie.
