Fortunately, Linus Torvalds developed the free and extremely popular program ‘git’ in 2005. This handy piece of software lifts the burden off many programmers’ backs by using features like a local and a central repository for autonomous editing.
A feature that becomes handy in real life, too, sometimes. Because every time two people tell the same joke or story, they change parts and create co-existing versions, meaning it gets increasingly harder to track what is real and what is a fib ;).
