Canon AV 1 Black Vintage 35mm SLR Film Camera with Prime 50mm Lens
The AV-1 is very similar to the 1976 AE-1 but provides aperture priority auto exposure rather than the AE-1’s shutter speed priority AE. The camera is not capable of fully manual exposure. In 1979, Canon began production of the AV-1, an aperture-priority 35mm SLR with a focal plane shutter and TTL metering. It has centre-weighted averaging light metering with a back-light compensation possibility.
The AV-1 in the name referred to the type of auto exposure; AV (Aperture Value) is a common abbreviation for aperture priority. With this camera, Canon introduced a new type of FD lenses mount without the separate locking ring.
